Frames

I’ve always loved frames. They are a way of saying, “This work is finished”.

It’s only recently I leave some pieces unframed because the edges of the paintings are too important for me and I can’t get myself to hide them. The drips tell a story, they are the truth of the painting.

On another side, I’m rigorously trying to make them important (the frames). I think a frame should not be a decorative element, but a real part of the work. That’s why I’m experimenting in even more ways for my frames. Trying to make something sculptural. Create a space where they belong. Inspired by the way religious statues are part of the wall in their designated alcoves.
